Vida or volvo software?

So I have an s80 v8 Volvo. The electrics are crap. How volvo ever got a reputation for reliability is beyond me. Anyway. It keeps showing me a immobiliser see manual message. This fault can clear in seconds or it may take hours before the car will eventually start. I am convinced that it's an immobiliser issue with the CEM module in the car. I joined a volvo forum but they all say I need Vida or similar. My issue is that it's bloody expensive and I will not be buying another volvo after this. I do have a launch x431 immo machine which I am sure has much the same capability. Does anyone know if this can clone or rematch keys for an s80 2007. If not what are the options for Vida and similar? I don't want to be paying £500 for software etc that I will barely use. Alternatively does anyone know of a decent auto electrician or indy volvo dealer in the west Midlands. I don't mind paying out but the car is not worth more than 2.5k from what I can see so I can't justify ploughing loads into it. Any help appreciated. Cheers Mike

Have you considered replacing the immobiliser ring in the steering column ?
It a common fault on this age Volvo.

VIDA and DICE can be bought cheap. I bought mine for £50 and sold it 4 years later for £50. No it was not hooky. Just get on a Volvo forum or classifieds .

That is a hell of a jump, an immobiliser fault on a car means the electrics are cr@p!

Get a dice from Aliexpress for ~£120, Vida is available wrapped up in a VM for use on any windows PC, I paid less than £20.
