I’ve got a couple of general trailers, a ten foot twin axle and a 16 foot tri axle, both ifors. The little one has high mesh sides and is great for branches and rubbish and stuff, the big one is great for lengths of timber and drain pipes and even the odd Hilux

However, it’s too high and the ramp angles too steep for a low car to get on and off.
I hired this Brian James transporter yesterday to take my TVR off to a paintshop and it was fantastic.

3.5te gross, 2.5te capacity, 5m tilt bed, big winch, the ramps are secured in the bed rather than under it. Big toolbox too.
Towed beautifully, made me want one…but I don’t think I really need two 5m trailers so I wondered if there is a solution that can do both jobs. Might even be able to replace both my current trailers with one that can also take a car like the Cerbera.
Has anyone used one of these before? Tilt bed GP trailer with sides. I figure I could still use this for everything my LM166 does but it’s also going to let me get low cars on and off it easier. What are the disadvantages of one of these compared to a “proper” car trailer?

The one in your photo will still struggle to get a car on without catching. You can buy the same model without the high tail board and it carries the ramps underneath,it's a shallower approach angle but it still won't be as shallow as the Brian James.

Mmm, interesting, yes ramps would be better and i'd prefer a metal floor - though that wouldn't be too difficult to doEdited by General Price on Sunday 11th October 08:58
I didnt actually need to tilt the bed to get the Trev on - though not it's not at full weight (but not too far off) and the suspension is up very high
Anyone know - are there any proper car trailers with removable sides?
