How do I close a thread of my own and redirect to an update?

Ideally would like to close my "Are Haas embarrassed by Rich Energy" thread as its overtaken by events and redirect to to new "rich Energy drop Haas" thread, but I can't close my own thread? Who / how do I ask? Or is it entirely for the mods?
