It's never worked consistently in my experience. Like the back button doesn't work if there are any youtube links in a post

No. I only use my Android tablet.

This is a "quirk" of PH - your browsing checkpoints aren't stored to your user profile, but instead just on a device cookie. If you change between devices, there are two sets of (unreconciled) cookies.

Other forums manage this quite well. But PH stands apart

I find that if the new post is the first on a page boundary, it will take me to the start of the preceding page. And it's really frustrating that there is no "latest post" link until there is more than one page. Most forums do it better, except that I find that ProBoards-based ones forget the position too easily, which is annoying when you want to see the latest post in a topic that covers 600+ pages.

I have this issue also ie. the the functionality to enable jumping to the first unread post on each topic doesn't work. The way it behaves is that when I click on a topic with bold heading (= it has new posts), it sometimes takes me to the first post of the topic (on a topic which I've previously visited), sometimes it takes me to the beginning of the page where the first unread post is and sometimes (very rarely) it takes me where I want to go ie. the actual first unread post.

Also, if I read messages on another device, the forum doesn't remember which post have been the last unread posts on another device. It's the same behavior on Windows 10 and 11 PCs and Android devices.

I've been a member of this forum for about two years and this issue has been there all that time.

All of these are basic functionalities on other popular forum software but they don't seem to work at all on this forum. Can forum administrators/owners do something to fix these basic issues?
