I think it's Geometos Neue, but you're right, it's very similar to the Alpine font. I really like it. Yertis said:

It is a bit off isn’t it, although otherwise probably about what I’d have done given the opportunity. Glad they’ve not fiddled with the smiley logo (my work many years ago) 
Looks like the full scale SVG logo and text render acceptably - although some pixel-peeping might reveal kerning issues - but when scaled down and displayed on the site page header then skew meets whiff.

I think it's Geometos Neue, but you're right, it's very similar to the Alpine font. I really like it. A bit Art Deco and a lot unneccessary.
I always loved the PistonHeads - like two, capitalised words, but without a space, ever since Ted first unveiled it, after the (necessary) re-branding from Petrolheads, as was.
Most re-branding is guff IMHO.
