Just read that the poster P5BNij has been banned.

Seriously one of the nicest, most enthusiastic and knowledgable people on here and someone who makes the forums an interesting place to come and he's been banned?

That is a shame. He made some great posts.

Unfortunately the seemingly endless collection of old photographs he posted were not all his to post. The copyright holder of many of these photos was in contact with PH, on more than one occasion.

Looking at P5bNij’s profile I can immediately see half a dozen occasions when he was warned not to post photos for which he didn't hold the copyright. In some of these occasions he was ushered into the Sin Bin for a proper two way dialogue.

Isn't there a principle of 'fair use' or a similar principle where photos are concerned?

Many posters, including myself, post pics, cartoons etc with an unknown origin therefore many of the members here could in theory be sanctioned.

Copyright of photos lasts 70 years in the UK. Too many people think (or fail to think) that doesn't apply to on-line images.

Thanks for explaining Scrump. I agree, a shame. But if he's been warned about stuff he's been warned.
