Should there be a forum or sub-forum for Chinese vehicles? Jaecoo, BYD, GWM, Omoda and so on. We can debate whether MG falls into the bucket...

Reasons to do it:
  • They are already taking market share, and that looks set to only increase.
  • Many brands are owned by a few parent companies, so they have a lot in common. A forum would help discuss common issues (e.g. insurance, parts availability) and indeed discuss the Chinese car industry generally.
Currently, discussion of such vehicles is scattered about. I think there is a thread in GG. Is it time to bring it together?

Also no option currently to add BYD (probably others) to my garage.

Any chance the list can be updated?

Not all Chinese cars are EVs, plus the EV section is going to get very cluttered. Considering how well they are selling, a Chinese section would make sense, there isn't a clear area for discussion.

Thanks Matt. Just to check - a forum or the Garage? (or both?)

Are postings on threads like this the only way to get admin's attention for a proposed improvement?

Have sent 2 x emails to the info@ account, but never even get an acknowledgement, let alone a reply. The first had about 2 weeks of a wait time, the second, about 10 days. Nothing heard on either. frown

Another soon to be dead sub-forum for threads to be moved to, just like a load of other marques.

Nothing like a decent thread of information being moved from an overzealous OCD mod moving it to a dead sub-forum where nobody is going to find it.

Yeah, just noticed many EV threads have been moved out of the general EV sub-forum into their model specific sub-forums.

It was really handy having them together as they were more about them being EVs than their model. They will now be doomed, available to only the die hards or those specifically looking for that model.

Poor decision making.

Very easy to have too many sub forums.

I think perhaps the purpose of my posting has been lost.....

I jumped on this thread as it seemed to be something that got admin action, in response to the OPs suggestion for a forum 'improvement'. Meanwhile, I have emailed the forum admin twice now on the info@ email address and had absolutely zero response. Both emails have well and truly passed the 5 days they ask to provide a response in.

So my posting was asking if contacting admin on a thread like this was the only way to get any response from them, as they simply do not respond to email....

I think you already have your answer, however if you want a definitive answer then create your own new topic in the feedback section.

This thread was about creating sub forums.

Well, it seems to have worked! 3 weeks after the sending the email, and 1 day after posting here, admin have replied to the original email and are going to make the suggested improvement.

Jolly good. thumbup

I also think we need two Chinese forums. One for slagging them off and one positive one. It's a bit much having them all in together. smile
