Help! I've lost access to my old account

Ok I have not been here for ages and noticed I'd to login with email not my username but the system wouldn't accept my password. After I changed password I've been given this rather apt new username but I've lost access to my older account.

My older account is still there because I can see it within the forums. It's not the googlemail gmail thing either.

You really have given me a new account???

Update I've managed to log back in using a very old email.

Do I have to delete the new account to change the email of my old account as I shall be using the same email as the new one??
