To answer your question members can't only certain mods can, and only PH admin can resurrect them.
wanted to change my nickname , simple as that. didn't expect to be treated like a villain after so many years of membership.
sorry if i'm not up to speed with the details of how forums work.

It seems that a mod can get your account back so no harm done. You have to admit though that your previous topic was pretty unequivocal - "how do I delete my account?". For reference, when you get your account back, go into My Profile and just alter the name in the box I must admit when I read your thread I thought it odd because you'd been posting as per normal and didn't seem to have had any rows with anybody or not used your account...
I can see your point here, but when someone asks for an account deletion they mean just that. Will thought he was doing you a favour, not treating you like a villain. if it's a switch of a username you wanted it wasn't clear, just a case of crossed wires as i see it.
You can have the account back, that's possible with a bit of work, just let me know via email if you want a resurrection or a deletion? I'll get it sorted this morning
