Assuming that this was not his own work how was it advertising?

Surely PH'ers can recomend people who have done good work. Could you not have just edited the contact text out if it was that much of a problem?

I posted a thread as my OH dad weas giving away a free exhaust for anybody with a supercharged range rover. I thought i would be polite and put it on here as i dont know anyone with one, and that also got removed.

And if it's a genuine company recommendation I see no issue but the problem is you don't know if it's genuine or someone promoting their own business...

How is it advertising when someone mentions that somebody else did good work for them.

Yet on countless threads we have a PHer hawking his wares to people looking for LED bulbs.

There is a thread in the south coast section that recommends a local radiator place, how is this allowed?

What about the detailing threads where somebodies work is laid out in a st ton of photos for all to see?

Firstly you will have an email as to why we deleted it, I know you do because I sent it. Perhaps your log in email is no longer used?

Why was it deleted? Because it was too much like an advert (as I explained in my email). Multiple photos, full address, email and phone number 9including mobile) of the company too. If everyone did this we'd have a site full of advertorials and not all would be legitimate sadly. Your post was reported to us by a few members as advertising and we acted accordingly as it was too much of an advert in our (and the readers who reported it) opinion.

There are many recommendations on PH, but we are wary when they contain so much information that it blurs the line between recommendation and advert.

Sorry, but it's just how we do things here and it's not our intention to annoy. I'm also sorry that you didn't receive my email.

I got one of these emails this week. TBH It read like a standardish message. Any chance the moderator concerned could have the bottle to stick his/her name on it!

I saw the topic and didnt think it was an advert of any kind in fact it was just a good worthy recommendation those sorts of things are hard to come by i went to bookmark it at it was deleted - i thought it might relate to detailing so I jumped over to the detailing forum where people often recommend Kelly from KDS Keltec and various others with pictures and information.

But each to their own.

If a moderator deletes a thread an email is sent, as Paul also stated it could go into your spam folder or your current email differs from the one your registered with.

He just did! what part did of Paul's post did you not understand? IIRC some of the mods do signs off and some don't. Nine times out of ten there is really no need to send an email explaining as the removal is really self explanatory as it's probably broken one if not more of the rules of posting.

I understand your stance. Without strict advertising controls this site would end up looking like YouTube. Kinda makes me think twice about taking the time to post content in future though.
