Why is PH's search engine so completely useless?

99% of the time it doesnt work for me, the 1% it does, it comes back with everything with the word even remotely used in it.

I usually have to resort to google, but why can PH not get this working, when so many other forums can?

The Google box on the search page works incredibly well for me.

The PH search is a bit limited, but given the bespoke back end architecture and the lack of unlimited funds to deploy some high priced search engine against it, seems to work about as well as you might expect.

Have you tried the advanced search?

I get on OK with it too.
