I've seen this latching on to other websites and wonder if the perpetrators, who are well known, have managed somehow to get the PH hamsters drunk?
ETA the computer at TB Towers is as likely as not to be implicated but the use of Pistonheads.com for profit by another organisation is very naughty.

It doesn't sound like something which is coming in through any of our Hamster systems, but I'll report it to our ad ops team nonetheless.There is apparently small print somewhere, as always, telling the scammed competition entrants how much the text messages that they're about to get will cost, and acknowledging no link to the name or brand host site they are parasitically infesting in some way, in spite of the appearance to the contrary from the page that appears - this is clearly a key step in getting people to go along and have their money removed give their mobile number as part of the competition process...the ticking clock is another key part of the catch as it will make some people act without thinking too much, to beat the short deadline.

A friend of my dads is a retired BT engineer and he set up a premium rate phone line and rigged a system where they could switch between the standard line and premium line by a switch on the phone. His wife is wheel chair bound and he had a stroke so moving quickly to the phone is a right pain in the arse. They were getting abusive phone calls from local scumbag kids, the police weren't not interested as they were no directly threatening. however after earning close to a grand in a few months the calls stopped. Brilliant end to the story.Some browsers have vulnerabilities that leak your browsing history, and thus can see whether you've been to a given site.
They fixed this in Firefox 3.6 which wasn't so long ago, and they may well not have sorted it in IE.
The other, easier way to do it would be that you've somehow opened that page from here, in which case it will have Pistonheads' URL as the referrer and be able to do that.

It looks like that, erm, offer is now back on PH as an 'official' advertisement. See OP.

Not the only way to find out... If you have a large ad network, you can see where your ads are being displayed and correlate the data collected from the user when the ad is shown. IP address, rough location, etc...
