I think cars under £500 should be free to advertise

That way all these weird and wonderfull wrecks that people have lying around may find a good home, instead of a breaker. I know £10 isnt much to advertise a car but I know it will put some or a lot of people off who are selling cheap stuff.

The cost to sell should be inversely proportional to the sale price. Once upon a time, the classifieds was just filled with Ferraris and Lamborghinis; none of this Nissan and Mercedes nonsense.

I've got an XR3 that's a bit rotten, I want 200 quid for it. I'm not going to spend money advertising it, I'll just let the scrappy take it. Its a German 82 carb. model in sunburst red.

Think the problem with having free ads for sub £500 cars is it would be abused and create lots of work for the mods?

I think you've proven the point. Long-standing PHers are entitled to free premium adverts and they are the ones likely to have interesting sheds. For those who don't qualify, engaging PH's enthusiast audience hopefully negates the £9.99 charge – new users can still sign up as members and will qualify for premium adverts sooner or later. Also, parts & accessories, motorcycles, big stuff and non motoring still have standard (free) adverts available.
