There seem to be a lot of people on here into the subject.....just an idea. But boats and trains and planets do go together.... hang on, I don't have the hang of this...
Do need a sciency thingy though. SEALS could be good, imagine the wannabe internet warrior trying to work out what collimating means thinking its techno speak for some sealy kill you dead action he can go and use online shooting game.... "I am gona collimate your..."

Yep more forums, that's what we need. Perhaps one day we'll have enough so that each topic has its own individual forum....
I would say if you want specialist astronomy threads, join an astronomy forum. It's often lost sight of the fact PH is predominantly a Motoring forum with a smattering of other interests thrown in.
What we seem to be getting of late, is loads of people who aren't even that bothered about cars just posting in the P&P section, I bet some of them have never even ventured outside.

It's not that simple. Many of these subjects to do with astronomy, etc, are scattered around different sub fora. Some will be considered news and be in the news and politics section, others will be in the lounge, and others will be in the boats, lifejackets, and anal beads section. There isn't really one particular spot where it can go. It's not like the football forum split, when we already had a sports forum, or splitting mx5 from the jap chat forum. there is no one place for space, science, astronomy stuff.

A simple insertion of "spaceflight and astronomy" into the forum name would at least give posters a fighting chance to know where they might find space related discussions. At the moment, the forum title gives no indication whatsoever that space related discussions might be going on there.
The problem is that the topic of space machinery (rockets, shuttles, satellites, space probes etc) is not quite the same as discussing astronomy, the nature of the universe, telescopes, binoculars etc.
But I do agree that we have far too many sub forums as it is - so just changing the forum title a bit would help a lot.

FYI I'm not aware that the mods have made that statement we have been discussing this, but at the moment but until the new classifieds is released the techy guys are a wee bit busy.

In you humble opinion.I do think you will see a forum raised to cover this area.
