PH answering emails sent to them

Only ask as I've now sent a few, and to differing people, yet never even get so much as a thanks, but no thanks.

I suppose there's 3 or 4 occasions.

1. Many months ago Silversix asked me to write about my car for the PH Carpool (hooray I thought ) and I was rather chuffed. At what took me a fair amount of effort I compiled an article and a load of pics. Eventually Andy asked for more pics, I obliged and made a special effort to take more. I didn't mind, as I thought I was supporting the site and forum.

Since then zilch. I've emailed Andy maybe 4 times over the past 4 months or so and Riggers and Paul.

Fair do's if my stuff isn't to be used, but it would at least be nice to get an email saying "thanks for the effort you put in, but we decided against it".

2. In May I attended a national level grass roots motorsport event, I compiled an article and photo's I'd taken from the event. I emailed the news@pistonheads address and Andy/Silversixx

Nothing....

Again, fair do if you didn't want it. But acknowledgment would at least have been nice. That way I could have offered it to my local Land Rover club instead.


3. Last week after spending quite a bit of time compiling votes from the PH forums for the PH Top 100 Cars list. This wasn't a 5 min job, I emailed all the results to paul, andy and news@pistonheads to see if you guys wanted it.

Again if you don't - why not say so. This way I'd at least know to post the PH Top 100 results in General Gassing instead.

As I say, quite a bit of effort went into compiling it, not just from me, but from all the members that voted on it too and offered up lengthy nominations. To them at least it only seems fair to show them what they voted for.

300bhp - I know for sure one of those e-mails you mention was forwarded to me and I know equally for sure that I have totally failed to reply!

I will look into all of these for you and get back to you asap (ie by tomorrow). Cross my heart etc...

We really do do our best to respond to all e-mails and it's poor form that you appear to have slipped through the net.

My inbox is clear as I type so perhaps I've missed some mails? Please resend any outstanding ones and I'll respond tomorrow (currently on a train en route to a meeting)

We don't answer things like mod reports and news alerts but direct mails usually get a reply. If we're asked to do something, sometimes the fact the request has been actioned means we assume the person knows we have seen the correspondence but that's rare.

Always try me on my haymarket email address as the mail server is a bit more robust. That address is [e-mail] an it applies to all of us at PHHQ. I do get a lot of mails so I'm not always able to reply immediately

300, not seen any of yours I must admit. We do get offered a lot of unexpected editorial submissions but usually reply with a yes/no. I should stress however, the it's best to ask us about editorial commissions before putting too much effort in, a we might not be able to use it. We don't mean to offend but we do get a lot of stuff we can't work with (not that I'm suggesting this is the case with you......)

I'm afraid to say I had the same experience. Did a 'My First Car' article and one or two subsequent ones but never got any response when I sent anything despite chasing.

I'm not at all precious about my writing - if what I send isn't suitable for whatever reason then that's no problem at all as long as someone says to me 'thanks but not this time' so I can use it on my own website instead. But if I write a news article and then get no response even the same day and it doesn't go up then it's a bit late to use it.

I should add too that I specifically asked what the editorial guidelines were before I sent anything.

1. Do you want the PH voted Top 100 cars list? Or should I just post it up in the forums?

2. Is my car going to make the PH Carpool?? (pretty please..... )
