1 meg email spam from PH

Had an spam email from PH this morning advertising DVDs for C'etait un Rendezvous and La Carrera Panamerica. Couldn't get it to open on either my iPhone or iPad, and when I downloaded it in Outlook I could see why: despite only being a bit of text and a couple of images it was over a meg in size! The email address it came from was [e-mail]

Can someone at PH let me know if it's a legit email. If so, can they also deliver a hefty slap to the back of the head of the muppet who put it together for embedding resized hi-res images into it!

Completely inaccurate. Quite apart from the DPA having nothing to do with direct communication, marketing or otherwise, there's a clause on the site saying that by providing your address you give permission for them to contact you.

Hence the unsubscribe link, as mentioned above.

Hmm, yes it's a Dread email. They run our shop, so if you have bought anything from us in the past it's likely you are on the mailing list.

I'll check their third party sign up policy, thanks for making us aware.

I'd imagine people wouldn't mind so much if the images had been considerately sized before sending the email.

Also, the "dread.cc" email domain doesn't exactly spell "buy with confidence", and for some reason refuses to stay lodged in my brain as the people wot I buy BTAP tickets off.

I expect email from PistonHeads to come from "pistonheads.com", which is why I thought it was a bit spammy.

All mail that carries our name, should follow basic email guidelines. I can only apologise gents, I can completely understand the comments raised here.
