Block threads contributed to by specific user(s)

Say for instance that one had a problem with one particular user's posts. One considers them to be universally balls, but still well within the rules of PH. The forums that the user in question posts in are still interesting of themselves so just removing them from the list isn't really an option.

Is it possible to be able to not see any thread either started by or contributed to by a specific user?

It's not possible because we've never created that sort of feature.

Indeed, hence this thread's existence. I presume from the phrasing that there's no danger of the feature ever being created.

Presumably, you'd want the posts of anyone who quoted the person you don't like to be redacted too? Would damage the thread's flow immeasurably, surely?

This feature is available on SNet, called "ignore". Put them on ignore & their posts are just blank. You can see every post within the thread other than theirs.

In all seriousness, this pops up quite regularly, however only a minority of users want it.. I think the PH dev. efforts are best utilised elsewhere, as I'm sure Matt would agree..

Isn't this just akin to a child putting their fingers in their ears and saying "la la la, I'm not listening" though?

I appreciate if someone is being offensive the it is dealt with by the mods, but surely we are adult enough to be able to ignore/accept/discuss other peoples opinions?

Won't some threads end up being totally nonsensical if some posters are not aware of the content of other peoples posts?

The other forum I use (Perth Street Bikes) has an ignore function. I tried using it on one particularly ignorant member but found it made the threads hard to follow, especially as he was prolific in a thread I had particular interest in (he is a pro MMCC zealot) so I disabled it and took a xanax instead

Exactly, at the end of the day if you don't want to read other peoples opinions why participate in a discussion forum?

My problem is with certain people who present arguments instead of opinions.
