Just wanted to add one comment. I think it stinks that the mods close down a thread which is actually a matter of public fact. Not internet rumour. It is quite clear to me that this 'crowd' are hurting car owners and probably Ph'rs and you suppress it. Good work PH. I await my ban!

Just venting. A well known car dealer. It involves the naming/shaming rules which is fair in isolation. However the behaviour of this dealer is not rumour. It is now a matter of public record, court rulings etc so is fact. Other forums are running with the threads on this topic yet PH have deleted them. I find it rather distasteful and no doubt has a lot to do with the advertising spend. Many forum members use this dealers services and could get 'caught out'.

Trouble with this thread is while much of it is in the public domain, there were continual posts that contained speculation. While the case is ongoing we'd rather it wasn't discussed here in that manner.

We had a discussion about the matter here (with people who could see both sides) and decided that a closure/ deletion was best for now. Once the case has been resolved then it will be less sensitive for us. Name and Shame rules are there to protect us against legal issues, that's why it has been enforced here over the years.

Closures of this nature are never ideal, nor is the decision taken lightly, but we do know where we stand by publishing certain comments and we made the decision to delete. Will it be the case forever? Certainly not.

Also, we are quite happy to lose advertisers who we feel damage the site. Spend does not equal protection.

Garlick, why don't you attach a linky to the closed threads, directing the topic back to the lengthy discussion. That way members who missed it (like me) can see what is going on?

Is it to possible to have a thread in the FLM section warning people with cars on SOR to google their dealer as there is a known problem (no name and shame)? Or a mod-controlled thread that just includes the publicly available court results for the dealer in question?

I am sure there are innocent owners out there who have no idea what is going on, who have cars at a dealer with a clear problem, and who potentially could lose tens of thousands of pounds if they don't collect their cars asap. Surely PH management feels some sort of duty to warn them? Isn't that what forums are for?

There are already judgements against this dealer. They are public documents. It shouldn't have to wait for the winding up procedure to be completed to publicise this issue - that may be far too late.

I must admit I was suprised by this news and until this thread vanished and these court proceedings were mentioned, I had no idea of the troubles with this dealer. I has always assumed they were one of the reputable names and indeed people mentioned them as such!

But he hasn't really answered the question in my view. Some of the legal actions have been completed.

I say again, people may lose tens of thousands of pounds because PH is censoring indisputable facts.

Is it "name and shame" to comment on convicted criminals in NP&E?
