Why do I have no bookmarks?

I have clicked on a few topics I would like to track and now when I go to look at my bookmarks, I'm simply told I have none...

Definitely remember it telling me they would appear in bookmarks.

Ipad and Macbook, running latest Safari and 2nd latest OS on each one.

Bookmarked this thread for a test. Did appear on my bookmarks (after a few clicks) - initially said none.

I wonder if safari has been ignored?
