My ban as Beefmeister

Hi mods, have tried to email at the info email address but it bounced back, hence having to create a new account to post this.

I was recently banned from the whole of PH due to comments made in the leasing thread. Now I totally held my hands up last time I got a month ban from the YouTuber thread and I’ll do the same this time - I shouldn’t have called PHuzzy an 'anal prick'. I took it too far and let my fingers get away from me without thinking.

However, in my defence he was the one swearing at people for no reason, I was merely defending them.

Can you confirm if my ban is permanent or temporary? Having been a contributor to both PH front page, 13+yrs to the forums and designed a large amount of the t-shirts in the PH store I’d really hope this is only a temporary ban? Especially as it was only one or two posts in one thread in a short period of time.

I would like to continue posting on PH as I have always done, I feel a permanent ban from the whole of PH is somewhat excessive.

It's exactly this type of non constructive, insulting response that gets peoples backs up in the first place. Far too much of it on PH, so easy to just drop in a sarcastic one liner without adding anything to the conversation.

Agreed, but also too many long term members throwing their weight around and rising to the non constructive, insulting responses.

I love how you used this as an opportunity to call him it again. Made me laugh. Yes I'm a big kid.

I also feel bans are handed out very easily compared to other forums. I've recently had one myself for a comment that I made intended to be dry humour but wasn't received in the way it was intended. A bit overzealous by the mods I think.

Agreed. I wasn't trying to be bullish saying I've been a long term member, more that I've been here 13+yrs and posted a huge amount, with only two indiscretions of recent times which have led to me being banned from the whole site.

To me that seems a little heavy handed, and teaching members a lesson is where a temporary ban comes in.

I have snapped recently a few times not without provocation though. As has been mentioned there are a large number of antagonistic posters whose seemingly only task is to troll and wind up other people. That gets to me sometimes and yes, I respond with a nasty comment. Then said troll who spends all day every day antagonising people reports my post and I get a ban while they get off with nary a slapped wrist.

I understand that the mods have a large task in making sure the site isn't over run, but I have posted this to try and simply ask if the ban could be reconsidered to a temporary one. The info@pistonheads email address bounces back and my previous mails to those I knew at PH haven't gone anywhere either thanks to either them leaving, or more likely ignoring me (which is fair ).

^^^^ Mr BeefM, I agree with you to be honest.

There are a number of individuals that literally just take a ridiculous argumentative view for the sake of it. I won't name, as I'll get banned but it's ridiculous now.

I come onto the forum and within reviewing a few threads I just can't stand it anymore.

I didn't see your particular thread, but I'm not surprised more and more decent posters are leaving.

I'd go as far to say that I think that's the end aim of the antagonist posters. They seem to want to kill the forum because they're anti car, anti driving etc. I heavily suspect anti car and various other organisations are doing it.

They don't seem to have a job, as everything is commented on, at all times of day, which would suggest they are being paid for by someone..........

Does anyone think that this thread makes it a mockery of being banned?

I've no idea what the Op did and have no axe to grind with him but the fact he can just rejoin under a different username and carry on as normal makes banning people futile and utterly pointless and thus no deterrent.

Explains a few 'new' posters though...

I fully expect this account to be shut down in due course, PH are usually very hot on this sort of thing (i believe via tracked IP addresses) and I am only using it to post in this thread, no others.

And I wouldn't have created it at all, but the email address they give you ([e-mail]) doesn't work, it just bounces back.

Many of you will know that we really clamped down on bad behaviour last year, as too many people were getting away with being abusive towards other members and constantly breaking our rules of posting.

We have a system in place to suspend and ban members for repeat offences and that is why Beefmeister received his ban.

However – we can use our discretion, although these decisions are not made lightly. On this occasion I have reinstated Beefmeister's profile however repeated bad behaviour will result in a full ban, which will not be revoked.

Beefmeister – I'll drop you a message and look into the [e-mail] account to find out why it's not working.
