Forum closed in evenings?

Slightly odd, the last 4 or 5 evenings from approximately 9pm through to about 8-9 am the forum has displayed a message along the lines of 'sorry forum closed to new members due to excessive trolling earlier in the day' when I try to submit a post.

Anyone know what this is about as I haven't noticed much spamming recently and I don't think the message is directly aimed at me.

I've noticed recently that the mornings are subject to loads of spam, from fake passports to kitchens to spiritual st. By the time you log on, the spam may well have been cleared up but the new member ban is still in force.

Same thin again last night, tried to screenshot it but ballsed it up. Started at about 9:30 pm. Any idea what this is mods?

I believe this is linked to recent moderation on your account and our safe mode that protects the site from spammers. We've got the development team looking into it and I'll report back. I'm afraid you'll continue to see this restriction in the evenings/early mornings but we'll try to get this resolved as soon as possible.

Ben I recently had a Temp ban 30 Days, so it could tie in with that not being fully removed?

Yes that's exactly it. It would appear that while the suspension has lifted, you're still (kind of) banned which is causing the issue. You can post during the day but not when the site is in safe mode at night like other newbies. I've reported this and it's being looked into, so I'll get back to you ASAP once we know more.

Still getting this mods, 1 week and no response, can someone wake them up. Getting really annoying now as I'm organising a run and need to be able to contact people.

This is still with the dev team I'm afraid. We've identified what the issue is so it's now with them to be fixed. We'll report back as soon as we know when this is likely to be.

How was this ever a thing, and what were the parameters to decide who got the message? Or did I miss that bit?

It blocks new members at certain times to stop spammers.

If you've had a temp ban then when unbanned somewhere in the DB you are flagged as a new user.
