Username Change Gone Wrong

I tried to change my username on my account a little while back but for some reason I've been locked out and can't log in to my account under either the new or old username.
I've tried getting password reset emails sent but to no avail.

I've registered again with this new account but it would be a shame to have to bin the account I've been using for 10+ years.

Is there any way to get the problem account fixed?
