Why Was This Thread Closed?

I do understand the need to protect the forum owners but would have thought that a warning to those hinting at identifying the dealer would have been sufficient here:-

When an interesting thread is closed it's very frustrating for those of us following with interest but not breaking any forum rules. Such a shame.

There were multiple warnings issued throughout the thread yet posters still tried to name and provide hints as to who the dealer in question was.

What is not obvious to those looking at the thread is the level of moderator intervention that was necessary to keep it within the rules.

Given that the warnings were ignored and posters continued break the forum rules a decision was made to close the thread.
