While lots of people will no doubt complain and say it’s fine, it’s really not. It’s ancient.

You should be able to reply to and quote multiple posts all without leaving the page and going to a new one.

You should be able to edit your posts without being sent to a new page also.

A functioning PM system would be nice although not a necessity. Potentially too resource heavy, I understand. Also hosting of pictures on the server may also be too resource heavy, the thumb snap integration works well.

A working search would be a massive improvement. Looking for something and getting nothing from the past five years is a right royal pain.

Please consider this, it’s badly needed to drag Pistonheads into the 21st century.

Also edit to add, a working notification and tagging system too! We don’t need signatures or Avatars, that aspect works and keep the forum clean looking but the rest of it, well, I think it’s a poor indication of the rest of the site.

All these issues and yet it is still probably the busiest "motoring" forum on the internet smile

All the years of being here and I've never known (or needed to) how to multiple quote.

Seems like a bit of a faff to be fair. laugh

Fully agree that the search is absolute pants.

Definitely no signatures / avatars. I keep a mental list of the absolute dheads on here, so have no need to be constantly reminded

The lack of avatars / signatures is a bonus in my opinion.

My only slight gripe is not being able to search on mobile.

There's no chance of importing all of the years of existing posts into a forum based on new software. The only option is to start Pistonheads 2 & leave the old forum online as read only so it can be referred to when required.

New forum software would make all this easy. Click a button, upload photo. Click a button, paste link.

Agree it would be good but I think we all know that we have got to live and make the best of what we have.

It is what it is, but it's free. My limited understanding of how the internet works says that our fking inane ramblings are actually a product with a monetary value. That monetary value is extracted by whoever owns Pistonheads in advertising revenue, because we're all here talking bks and looking at ads, albeit unintentionally. If we continue to come, despite the disappointing experience, who gives a fk? Why should the owners of the forum invest any money in the user experience if people flock in droves to donate content for fk all?

I agree with the talking bks bit, but ads, where are the ads, I don't see them.

If I'm honest, I don't either, but I think the point is that many do.

The thumbsnap integration is seriously poor. You can't even upload multiple photos in one hit, and it can't resize larger photos.

Using a 3rd party site to host images went out five years ago, it's embarrassingly easy to host photos on any modern forum, locally or using an integrated interface with Amazon S3.

Nonsense. It would need a bit of custom script, and an afternoon to run.

It’s not difficult now! In fact easier than many “modern” forums.

Just watch this!

Runs custom script.

Was it meant to delete ALL the data?

Sorry.

You may be surprised how many 'bits of script' are needed for a large data migration / ETL project. I'm not saying it can't be done, just it would likely need some serious time and money invested.
