Please put some links to the posting rules in some obvious places, such as in the 'Forums' top menu, or the blue menu bar above all the gassing station pages. The link in the 'Start a discussion' box is not obvious enough.

I've been here 12 years and I didn't even know there *were* rules.

(You have no idea how annoying it is to have your post removed for a breach of a rule you didn't even know existed. Please mods don't just delete this one, what is 'Website feedback' for except to post suggestions for improvement?)

Even one down near the T's and C's would do.

Bloody hell now I'm seeing links to them everywhere. Was there always one under the bottom nav?

TBH I'm not 100% sure there has ALWAYS been a link down there, but nothing has been added recently.

I'm going to suggest that it's not really an obvious location when about 400m of the page is covered in adverts.

Maybe a non-bypassable big 'READ THE RULES' link when signing up - although it's been so long since I signed up I can't remember if there were any rules back then.

AFAIA there have always been written rules, they were Teds days a little more open to individual (moderator wise) interpretation, hence inconsistency did creep in at times. smile

I think one of the problems is that PH is so old and has never been through any kind of UX process. It's designed to expose functionality, not to work well, be intuitive or look good. So things like this get lost, move about all over the place depending on context, page, etc, when they should be consistent and obvious. Hell this link even changes its name!

More important things should be more obvious than unimportant things. For example I have never clicked on 'My Mates' or 'Smilies' and yet they have equal visual weight.

Well volunteered. Shall we say Monday at 9 to start your unpaid work? biggrin
