Richard Parry-Jones - worth an obituary?
Discussion
Richard Parry-Jones sadly died last week. IMHO he had a huge impact on making Fords good to drive, which then had a knock-on effect on VWs and the baseline standard of all mass-market cars in handling, steering, ride etc, basically bringing sweet-driving cars to the masses.
Given this, his passing feels like something worth mentioning with a PH article? I'm not saying this is some kind of moral obligation or anything, just (a) news that PHers would want to know about, and (b) an opportunity to reflect on his achievements which seem very relevant.

Hello all!
Sorry for the delay on this. As you know, we do tend to cover deaths of notable people from the industry, however miserable the task is. All that's said here is correct, he was instrumental in creating one of Ford's greatest generations and should be remembered as such. We should have covered his passing and didn't, put simply; I couldn't tell you exactly why - a lack of resources to do his obituary justice, most likely - but any excuse would be lacklustre. Given the interest that's clearly there for people like R P-J, we'll ensure to be more on the ball in future.
Thanks, and apologies,
Matt

Thanks for the response, appreciate it. I completely understand that journalism is a fairly hard-pushed business esp lately, and that it's tricky to pull together a major piece at very short notice following an untimely death.
IMHO if PH wanted to put together a feature celebrating Richard Parry-Jones' life and automotive legacy, any time this year, that would feel totally appropriate and fitting.
