Official Man United (Runners Up of Europe thread)

I know most mods don't care for football. However, I would imagine that whichever mod altered the name of this long running thread does not particularly like Manchester United. I can live with the fact that anti-United fans exist in great numbers which is fine but can one of you remove the 'Runners up of Europe' tag from the title ?

It would seem that this has been amended to offer some humiliation to United fans due to not winning the Champions league final last year, even though they won the English Premiership again.

I don't see the Liverpool thread tagged with 'already out of the Champions League' or the Tottenham thread tagged with 'still won nothing significant recently'

In light of this, would one of you mods please alter the thread title to a simple form like the others. One wouldn't like to think there was any bias on Pistonheads, surely ?

IIRC It was originally started with the over-confident title "Official Man United (Champions of Europe) Thread", but this was amended when things didn't quite go to plan and they ended up as runners up.

This is incorrect. Factually, the original title 'Champions of Europe' was correct. It was not a cocky statement or prediction of future events, it was the actual status of the football club at that time as they were champions after winning the cup in 2008 and only ceased to be current champions at the final whistle of the final in 2009. This is when the title was amended to rub it in.
