Why won't they put a price against their ads? So frustrating when looking for a cheap motor, for example, when stuff like a 635d appears against <£1000. Surely trade advertisers can be forced to use the system properly?

The Dick Lovett stock comes in from a feed system and thus we have to process it the best we can. If the feed company doesn't stipulate a requirement of price then we are a little stuck at forcing one on the dealer as it is not coming from them directly.

We will remind the dealers that the best way to sell a car is to have it advertised properly with a price and will get the sales teams to speak to the dealers to use prices on their adverts.

I do the same for Hendon Way Motors. I don't even bother to look attheir adverts. I doubt this is what they want.

Simple - exclude items with no price from searches where a price range is specified. All that will be left then is the tools who put £7 instead of £7000 and so forth.

Not so simple; the seller pays ph, the buyer does not. Its a competive market with ebay, autotrader etc al. Members including myself have been asking for decent advanced search options for years, if you can put up with searcing only the title line then you will live with the no prices

Conversely I think that a key way in which PH can defeat eBay, Auto Trader et al is to offer a consistently better service for the buyer. One needs only look at the "New Auto Trader website cockup" thread for evidence that buyers are sick of crap websites full of crap cars from crap sellers.

I don't disagree with the above... we are certainly looking into the searching of classifieds and it is very much our focus at the moment.
