An Introduction Forum?

I'm sure it's been discussed before, but why doesn't PH have an introduction forum?

I know forums where you are encouraged to post in an introduction forum, and it works well. I think it gives more people the confidence to make their first post, and to make a proper introduction.

I've seen a couple of very enthusiastic introductions that get shoved down to page 100 of GG in no time, which I think is unfortunate as some do make a tremendous effort to say hello. Tonight this guy pushed the boat out, and I think others would if it was clear where they should post. Also, there are some very friendly people here who don't post too often, who could see who's new and make them feel welcome.

If it's too much, how about changing "Readers' Cars" to "Readers' Cars & Introductions"? Personally I think it's an asset to any enthusiasts' forum to have an introduction forum, but perhaps PH doesn't for a reason.

PS. Does anyone remember the name of the Dutch guy with sight impediment?

It has been talked about in the past, but we are not sure if it would work. Would any of the regulars actually venture in there or would it just be newbies saying hello to one another?

The welcome email sent out when you sign up used to suggest making a post in GG, but I agree that is a bit like jumping in at the deep end these days.

Maybe pointing them towards readers cars would work, or alternatively an "Introductions" sticky rather than a whole new forum.

We'll give it some thought, and if anyone else has any suggestions or insight then please feel free to chip in.

I think people would reply. They quite often do in the current introduction threads, and if new posters included a picture of their car, I'm sure it would get some interest from owners of similar cars.
