I'm being rather tongue in cheek here, apologies if this isn't the right place.
I was thinking last night that there are some hard-and-fast rules that the PH community would probably collectively like new contributors to adhere to, which as a relative newcomer I have gradually become aware of. I wondered if we should collect them together and make anyone registering click a box to say they understand? I'll start the ball rolling:
1. Do not try and convince everyone that your car - whatever it may be, but especially if is a fast diesel version of a ordinary saloon car - is the fastest car in the world. Equally don't claim to own something exotic that you don't.
2. Try and use correct spelling and grammar at all times, or your opinions will be looked down upon by many/most people. Everyone makes 'fat fingers' mistakes, but write in text speak, and a lot of people will assume you're an idiot.
3. If you become aware that something has become a PH in-joke (mapped 335d/'the imagine'/Ambwilans, etc.), don't repeat it unless you are certain it is relatively fresh. The chances are by the time you get the joke, it will be stale and you will just look foolish.
4. Don't try and convince Vonhosen that it's sometimes OK to break the speed limit. Just don't.
5. If you start a thread that attracts derision, don't go back and edit your posts or claim that you were winding everyone up and that the joke's on them for responding. It won't wash.
6. Don't post anything untrue about yourself if you've ever posted anything that contradicts it anywhere else on the internet. You will be caught out and made to look foolish.

Not sure I'd be that interested in new posters following those rules. #4 I disagree with though, someone's gone to the effort of writing the software so it might as well be exercised.
The idea of VH as a program tickles me. Trying to fry his circuits by presnting him with motoring law dilemmas... love it.

I must admit one of the first things that puts me off any post is excessive length, esp. if not broken up into paragraphs.
But I was thinking more PH-specific and that applies anywhere.
Spelling/grammar nazi-ism is definitely more normal here than on - say - most one make forums I have frequented.
