Changing thread title

Would it be possible to allow thread starters to edit thread titles please? It is rather annoying if you suffer brain fade, screw it up, and then cannot correct it.

Yes, I know we can do that, but the request is to enable thread starters to make the change themselves. The question was really aimed at the developers: is it a facility that could be added? Just about every other forum software that I have ever used, anywhere, has allowed this simple thing.

No, not really. Perhaps you'd care to elaborate? Why would changing the thread title be any more of a problem than changing the message body?

I'd still like to know what the developers have to say about it, or maybe hear the reasoning for why it's not allowed?

Indeed. Much hilarity ensued back in the day on certain other forums. Thread started with title - "How many times have you done x" only for the thread title to change from "x" to "gay bum sex" when a certain number of people had replied.

OK, and how many times did this happen and what did the mods do about it? If it were known, and seen, that punishment would be dealt to those who piss about in that way, then they wouldn't do it.

It could be built, but It's pretty rare that a thread title needs changing and, as others have said, not being able to limits people from playing silly b*ggers. And by that, I don't just mean childish "jokes" but also changing the title repeatedly to try and get more people to read it and all the other minor silliness I have seen in other places.

If you need a title changing then report it to the mods and we'll do it, if we find that lots of people are needing it then we'll look into adding it.
