WTF with all these IMVU adverts?

Almost every page I open has these flashy IMVU adverts with Barbie doll type characters on them. Googling it says it's a 3D virtual social network.

I might be wrong but I can hardly imagine anybody on here using a chat website like that. TBH a couple of colleagues have joked about what sort of websites I'm looking at when they've walked past.

I'm in Saudi just now and typically I haven't had the ad since I posted this morning!!! If it shows up again I'll screengrab it.

The reason you are seeing these adverts at the moment is because you are outside the UK, and users outside the UK get shown a different set of adverts which are bulk bought, rather than targeted ones which are show to our UK users.

I'm going to have to install an adblocker because every page is now coming up with Access Denied over the ads because of Spyware ads or such like. It'll eventually raise a flag with our IT guys. See below, bottom right and top right.

There is not any spyware in our ads, but if your IT department have fallen out with them then I understand your reasons. After all, its not like you can see them anyway!

Maybe not but if you've just bulk bought the ads then something must be triggering it as it's just started doing it in the last couple of hours.

I've installed Firefox on my works computer now so it shouldn't be an issue anymore. Not something I wanted to do but no option unless I want a visit from IT for constantly triggering the content filter.

We are looking into it, but I am confident that it will be a case of the filtering companies being overly cautious rather than anything more sinister.
