a McLaren section?

was searching for topics on the MP4 and found a few, it seems each articles about it has been rather active on the comment side and seems some Ph'ers have ordered one, maybe time for a Mclaren section?

A McLaren section? Really?

For the 100 F1 owners in the world?

After all no-one else actually owns one.

I'd vote to keep things as they are until some cars are actually delivered.

I'm not doubting McLaren's ability to produce cars or anything, it just seems odd to have a forum for a manufacturer that isn't really producing anything yet.

I agree that once cars start being delivered we should find a home for them, the natural place probably being alongside the current Ferrari/Maserati/Lamborghini/Bugatti forum.

Don’t agree.

I think that now is the time to open a forum for them. There are so many topics which can be put in there and it is about the most anticipated new car for petrolheads in years. Much more so than te Bug as a lot of us can actually see ourselves owning one one day, even if that will not be a new one.

FWIW I know of 4 people who have placed expressions of interest and all of them will go through all the way (unless it suddenly becomes a £200k+ car) 2 of them are regulars here but have not let it slip on the boards.

As for adding it to the Ferrari/masseer/lambo/bug forum – that would be an insult.

I think odd too that it needs the car to be in the show rooms to open a section, when there are already a few topics about it around in different sections...

If there are sections for cars not produced anymore why not to have section for car which arrive soon?
Hard to me to see there is section for "scimitar" where not any post has been done for more than a month and that there is not a section for McLaren...

It doesn't need to be in the showrooms to have a forum, but there does need to be a certain level of demand and chat to stop the forum becoming stagnant and dying off, in the way which has happened to quite a lot of the smaller forums in the past. Around the time that the first deliveries start just seems like a good time to give it a go, as this is when interest will (hopefully) peak.

I just think the two should sit side by side (with possibly a couple of others) to create a little corner of the site for genuine supercar owners. I think that that might work well. A supercar section (like the P&P is these days) divided into Italian and French section, British and German and then a 3rd one for the rest of the world for things like Hulmes

You'll have your work cut out as you could probably create an entire sub forum based on the debate as to when a 911 ceases to be a sports car and becomes a supercar...

Or you could start it now, link your one a fortnight news articles to it, pop all the current relevant threads in it and promote it as THE unofficial place for information and discussion about the car, rather than start when every other forum under the sun does. Just a thought...
