Can we please have a football section in the forum

The sports section is so over run with crap about Enger-land, Liv-er-Pool, Man-U that any other decent discussion is quickly lost. I'd say there's enough content to keep them happy in their own world of cheats, bankruptcy and every other permutation that they'd exist quite well. It will also give the other topics and sports the chance to breathe and expand without the need for "The official" required to keep loosely related theme's together, whether that be in a football section or the sports (-football) section itself.

It's an interesting idea, I'll make sure it is on the list to be considered next time we are creating forums. 
Many thanks for considering it, at the moment it's 17 - 3 in favour of the so called beautiful game on the front page, as mentioned it's not like there aren't posts on other sports but they just get swamped

Ashes, Boxing & MMA continuations
The Ashes should be there on merit but, the Boxing & MMA threads are only up there constantly because all the posts no matter how disparate are kept in one thread and there are a couple of consistent posters keeping it alive.
to prove a point Page 2 is 13-7 the other way round.

I assume it's a bit of an administrative nightmare to move all the historic and active "official" football threads over to a separate area? In that case can you leave them there and move the other sports, would that be easier? there's not too many active ones for other sports.

I can tell you for certain now, I am never going to set up a football section on PH. 
MattDell or one of the other guys who still work for PH might, but I definitely won't!

There's the point. .You missed it.
Not at all. If folks want threads about other sports, then start the threads. Absolutely nothing to stop them from doing so, and keeping interest in them. If there isn't interest in it, then it will go down the pages. Moving football to another forum isn't going to make those topics any more popular.
People are more likely to post on a thread if it is on the front page. Because football dominates the sport forum it is very rare that a non-football thread will stay on the front page long enough for everyone to see the threads that they may wish to contribute to.
If all the football threads were in a football forum, would any of the regular posters in them notice a difference? I very much doubt it. But on the flipside, people interested in other sports might notice a marked difference in the amount of replies they receive to their threads on other sports.
If PH were to change it to Sports and Outdoor Pursuits there would be a lot of traffic as there are a lot of members with varied hobbies/interests.
It would be a win win situation as far as I can see.
