Might it be worth having a sub-forum within say Computing for website feedback topics? I agree with elster - this massive community is very useful for tearing sites to shreds!

Absolute bunch of arse that the thread got pulled in the first place. It's a community FFS, of course we're going to bounce ideas around and ask eachother for feedback on stuff. There's no shortage of dross threads on this site, pulling the ones which are genuinely of use to someone who's long standing and asking for opinions is f*cking stupid, frankly.

100% agree, Evenflow. Thought it was a little heavy handed to close it TBH...

As i see it, if someone asks for advice, they either get it, or they don't. I can't see the difference myself.

I must say that over the last few years Pistonheads has morphed from being a friendly forum for car enthusiasts to an aggressive place full of trolls and crap. Heavy handed moderation goes hand in hand with the crap and is I am afraid symptomatic of the declining standards of the site.

Any thread asking for advice on web design etc is only ever going to appeal to the nerds and geeks anyway so it's a pretty niche advertising ploy (unless it's for world of warcraft or warhammer things)

Somewhere wherein only members with >x posts / >x months could start topics would work. PH is hugely useful for this kind of thing, it would be a great shame to lose the opportunity for peer review of this kind of stuff. Those of us who have useful contributions to make can spot a blatant advert miles off anyway and report to mods.
