'Go to new posts'

I have found recently this has not been updating.

For instance, I start reading a topic on page 90, I get to 100 and close the page. When I use the 'go to new posts' button in 'my stuff' it will take me back to page 90, not where I last was.

It's happened quite frequently recently.

Is there a scheduled task that updates them? I can be checking 'my stuff' minutes apart.

It's because the point of reference isn't the latest post, it's the blue bar. And it's that which doesn't update quick enough.

Find it more annoying when on my iPhone, as the page loading is constantly trying to drag me to the blue bar rather the bottom of the page.

The blue bar states 'last visit' though. And my last visit would be page 100 not 90. Even if the topic is now 200 pages, it used to snap to page 100, the last page I visited.

I agree on the iPhone point, but I like how it does it on the full site.

(I run the full site on my iPhone, not the mobile version).

The server either needs to remember the last visible post when you last opened a thread and go to it when you click the arrow, or it directs you to the blue bar. Apparently, a decision was taken to use the blue bar as the point of reference, but for some reason the bar's capacity to follow you about isn't consistent. In some threads, for example, it'll work ok, but on others it can take up to a day to move along the thread.

I find the blue bar reference quite restricting as I tend to surf through both 'my stuff' and the forum in general pretty quickly and it's certainly not clocking me very well.

I may be an 'extreme' example of user though


ETA: I am also seeing more frequent examples of the blue bar jumping forward in time. SOme of the big threads, like the Barge ones, I may only visit once a day or even couple of days, yet the bar has jumped forward as if I have been into the thread.

I thought the blue bar goes to the the last visible post?

This topic worked fine, blue bar was under my post when I revisited. But, on the longer threads it takes ages to update.

An other weird occurrence. I just clicked the take me to latest posts, it got taken to the top of the first page. Then when I went to the last page (my last visit) the blue bar was there.

It's supposed the be the last post that you have seen, but evidently it's not working perfectly at the moment. Interesting you both say it is long threads though...
