and the top result was

List of all the motorcycles owned by PH members



Last post (no that is not a bugle tune related to the state of affairs on the cheap software this forum runs on) was MARCH 2010!

MARCH 2010 and the wrong number of bleeding wheels. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Because this so called search function is complete insanity

We get people posting new threads when there is another just down the page, then people complain they haven't looked. Time and time again. Considering you guys are the most popular motoring forum in the UK why not go to something like vBulletin.

I've actually suggested it before, if you do a search you will find it.

Or perhaps not.

By entering just noble 600 into the PH search and clicking the most recent tab to re-order the results you get;



which you can see includes this very thread.

Using the Google PH search option you get 11 pages of at 25 per page results.

Cheap ! Cheap you say ?

Ted toiled and sweated blood and tears writing it, it cost nothing.

It is not an out of the box product, that is why it is different and a lot of us like it that way.

The search function has been a little temperamental on the odd occasion but is now running pretty well.

Just the users now seem to need training on how to interact with the results .

Just out of interest, is the search function custom written too? Or is it just the standard DB (MySQL?) full text search? Or has a dedicated search engine been implemented?
