if someone is banned from a thread or even the whole of Pistonheaddom can you tell?
Would this be useful in giving the increasing number of folk who feel PH is becoming a bit ANGRY to show that the real plonkers are dealt with?
or have I missed the fact that its obvious if you get a ban?

It says banned under his name, I think I may have seen it on another profile too.
Not sure if its a standard procedure or just a Mod doing it to serve as a warning to others that people do get banned.
It's actually pretty rare for anyone that you'd recognise to be banned. The vast majority are new members who either cause trouble and don't fit in or are just here to post adverts.
Of those who have been around for a while, we occasionally get someone do something massively stupid which results in a straight ban (i.e. ProPlus) but the majority are people who have been warned they are crossing the line time and time again but refuse to shape up.
As for why we don't display bans, well you aren't likely to be interested in the newbies, the straight bans are rare and the "totting up" bans are often difficult to explain to those who can't see the whole picture.
