Adverts under menu bar - BMW General

Seeing ads under the menu bar in the BMW General section (only)

They are pretty large and also those fking annoying Criteo "advertise to you whatever you've just bought" ads

Is this intentional ?

The large "Leaderboard" adverts underneath the menu are something we have done for a long while now, they get switched on in single forums when there is a specific campaign targeted at them and then turned off again once it finishes.

Thanks Will, I hate to block these things but they are a bit in-your-face.

Also it's just pointless, on those ads they have
- PeoplePerHour offering me freelancers (I am a freelancer on their site already!)
- Parcel2Go offering services (I used them a few weeks ago)
- Laterooms (already booked, been away, come back..)

Seems an interesting business model. Still, presumably they make money..

Sorry, are we talking about the large advert in the BMW forum, or the remarketing adverts in general?

The BMW advert is a temporary campaign, offering BMW servicing for £119 and will disappear again once the campaign finishes.

The remarketing adverts are being used instead of the normal filler adverts that are shown when we don't have anything PH specific to display on a given page. Is it really a problem having adverts for companies who you have used/are interested in rather than adverts for Virgin Media, Kumon Maths & English Centres or GifGaf sim cards? (Just a random selection I have seen this morning) They might even be useful to you if you were still planning your holiday, or if you need to send another parcel.

Unless I'm going mad, that advert was originally promoting PeoplePerHour and similar, but now as you say it is promoting BMW Servicing.

I prefer the BMW servicing advert


and yes, far better than seeing "Lose weight by following this weird old tip" or "Debt problems?"

Quite possibly, there is a delay between it going live and the campaign starting and again between the campaign ending and it being removed as both processes are done manually. During this time it will be filled with whatever adverts are available.
