So why do people quoting me lose the first letter I wrote?

Apologies if this has been answered before, but I can't find any threads on it.
Whenever someone quotes one of my posts, the first character drops off my post in the quote - such as you can see when I get quoted a couple of times in this thread. I can quote people perfectly normally, and nobody else quoting anybody else does this, so I don't think it's a browser problem - but even quoting myself loses the first letter of my post!
Try it on this post and see if it still happens.
All I've noticed is that - again, see in the link - it doesn't happen if the first character of my post isn't a letter, but part of a quote (or I assume any other) tag.
Can't say it's killing me, like, but it looks untidy and I'm curious! What's doing this?

It's a bug that we are aware of, but have not managed to track down exactly what is causing it yet. It doesn't seem to be anything to do with either the user or the thread, but that's as far as we have got at the moment.

For what it's worth, in this thread on my screen, the quote in the second post appears normal, the third post drops the A (but whether deliberately or not I dunno ), the fourth we can't count but the seventh also drops the A.Does that look the same to you guys, or is it actually being generated differently by my browser?
