Is it time for a "fuel economy" forum section ??

I know, i'm not helping by posting this, but every other post in the "general gassing" now seems to be about fuel economy! Do we need a specific Fuel Economy section on PH now???

Perhaps the PH forum wizards could somehow engineer a "dull-o-meter" which records the number of times you use the letters "mpg" in your posts in one week, and rates you accordingly.........

We definitely need atleast a wiki where people can contribute as much info as possible about their fuel consumpsion. that way, people wouldn't need to ask what they should expect or whether what they are getting is good/bad.

Then, it would be OK to lock/remove topics started about the subject.

We do need a separate insurance matter forum though.

Maybe there should also be a what car generator program to help the seriously hard of thinking with car choices.

I know I started a what car ish thread earlier in the week but mine was more a I am looking at these, is there anything similar, rather than the irritating and often unanswerable. 'I have £8k to spend on a car with 200+ BHP that will do 0-60 sub 7 seconds, be insureable for beans (despite me not telling you my age driving history or postcode), I don't want anything that looks ugly, has the wrong badge, has to have 4 seats but be like a sports car, oh and it must do 40mpg at least.'

Taking your quote out of context I know, but I've been looking for over 25 years and such a car doesn't exist (even back then when £8k was a lot of money ). Conclusion (for me anyway) is a shed or company car for daily use and 'something for the weekend' insured on a classic policy.

Back on topic, I don't think we need an fuel economy section really...I think we all know that if you want to get high MPG then you just have to drive more boringly gently and cruise at a lower speed.

While I can see that is it becoming a little bit repetitive at the moment, I don't think there is a need for a specific "Petrol Prices/Fuel Economy" forum.

Having said that, and I am just thinking out loud here, do you guys think there could be mileage in splitting General Gassing in two? one for Car Chat and one for Motoring Advice?
