Editing Thread Titles

Am I missing something obvious? Is there a good reason why an OP can't edit a thread title?

And also under this heading perhaps the mods could be a little more pro-active in editing obvious errors in thread titles and, occasionally, changing them to better reflect what a thread has become rather than what it started as?

As I was told by PetrolTed many years ago when I first became a moderator, don't get too anal about errors in thread titles as it makes the place feel a little more human. I still use that sound advice to this day.
