Punctuation getting lost when quoting

I've been noticing lately that when quoting a reply, various punctuation symbols are being replaced by spaces.

Currently I'm not sure if it is mobile devices using Unicode punctuation or if it is more endemic, but it is definitely happening quite a lot.
