403 FORBIDDEN ERROR previewing WIKI
Discussion
Trying to update WIKI
https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
Getting error trying to preview and update grey'ed out
It was OK when I last updated it in January 2026 , so something has changed recently
I've been maintaining this WIKI for nearly 20 years and now it goes wrong

There'll be a word in the update that it doesn't like. This happens a lot on PH. Over zealous security software.
When I tried to update the Miami GP start times in my F1 Entry List and Calendar Wiki I received the same error, and that was just trying to adjust two numbers. So I doubt it's a word causing the issue.Edit: Fixed after reading this post in the 403Forbidden sticky at the op of the page:

For wiki pages this can be an issue that will be forbidden.
having the bracket right up to the pipe is the issue - other characters may knacker it too

I had the Sprint races denoted by an (S) next to the round number, with the closing bracket against the pipe. I have just put a space between the bracket and the pipe and that has resolved the issue. However, it is a workaround as I have never encountered this issue beofre on previous edits.having the bracket right up to the pipe is the issue - other characters may knacker it too

Could be the pipes as mentioned above. When you edit and submit, the security software will scan the entire page / post. So even stuff that was already there could trip it up if the rules have changed. A 403 error is basically "forbidden" so something on there is likely tripping it up. Most likely they'll need to adjust the rules the system is using - either that or it's completely borked, but then I'd expect every post submission to fail.
I don't know what security software they're using so my answers are very generic but the basic principle will apply.

As I said earlier , the pipes were my suspect ... But I've got hundreds of them in my WIKI .... I'm already blowing the size limit on a WIKI and some of the WIKI is already missing because of the size ... Adding additional spaces will just increase the size of the WIKI an exacerbate the size problem
. This problem has only occurred in the last few months , so somebody has changed something ,
. This problem has only occurred in the last few months , so somebody has changed something ,unfortunately I can't provide much details on this but it's basically a black box we buy as a service as an extra security layer to help protect our old beloved forums... ideally they would review false positives like this and after some time their system would automatically adjust to correctly process it. I will see if there are any buttons I can push on this side to help with this.
In the meantime do you want to PM me the updated wiki code so I can try to update it directly on the backend?

I can't PM you because you haven't got an email address on your profile !!!!In the meantime do you want to PM me the updated wiki code so I can try to update it directly on the backend?
The WIKI code is visible to anyone if you go into the WIKI and select UPDATE ... as with any WIKI (the try PREVIEW)
Here are THREE WIKIs on the TUSCAN FORUM affected are these .... but I should imagine ALL WIKIs with formatting are experiencing the same difficulty

I would suggest you contact your s/w supplier and tell them they've cocked up !!!!
It does seem to be pipes followed by [ ( ||[ needs to be || [ ) looking at other WIKIs ... and probably all types of brackets following || .

find: )*nospace*|| replace with: )*add space here*||
and: '*nospace*|| replace with '*add space here*|| < note the single quote here
this did the trick for now and I'm able to preview all three wikis you've mentioned. I'm still working with the provider to get a proper fix but this should unblock any updates to the wiki for now
