Any thorough checks always seem to be as you first arrive on site, whereas when you go and out and return they just wave you through.

Having canned beer helps if they decide the rule being enforced is 'no glass' (of course wine bottles and jars of mustard are excluded from the 'no glass' rule).

Edit to add: I see you've said 'track' not camp. That's definitely a no-no. Although if you have a rucksack with upper and lower sections that 'pat test' might only check the bottom section and a visual check of the top section might not reveal any drink hidden under your rain coat at the top of the bag.

I usually take cans in the bottom of my rucksack and wrap a coat or jumper around them.
If they open your bag they only look in the top usually

They had the "no glass" rule last year - we went freely in and out of circuit with cool bag full of cans instead - the only place they didnt let us go with them was the concert area - other than that they weren't bothered, especially as the weekend drew out.

Sadly this year I wasn't able to get a campsite so planning on sleeping/staying awake at the track. Trying to avoid the long walk back to the car everytime we want a beer! Sadly havent got the funds for the bars!

Poor planning by all of you. You should have done a Bathurst and buried it inside the circuit a couple of months ago biggrin

I decant my wine into a mineral water bottle in my cool bag, no issues whatsoever including the concert.

Don’t they serve draught lager at the circuit. Surely that’s gotta be better than warm cans.

I'm not a beer drinker (I know right) but last year I think it was only Fosters everywhere and something like 10 Euros a pint!

Goodwood is £7 a pint I think at the festival. Between 9am and 18:00 I had 15 of them. Money well spent I thought hehe

Doesn’t sound awful for ice cold beer at a once a year, sold out event.

Just take cans, two reasons...1: they can't argue you're taking glass into the circuit...2: most cans are larger than the average bottle 440ml can Vs 330ml bottle

No, we were drinking kronenborg in the bars, but they weren’t even allowing cans in at the entrance opposite blue nord.

I can't understand why the ticket agents can't get some clarity on this - they're making a living out of this (at long last)

Perhaps like me, they're not that bothered and don't consider it their problem...... wink

It’s the ACO, there are no hard and fast rules, we get this every year, everything depends of the official you encounter, if you don’t like the response from one person try the one next to them, anyone expecting consistency is just going to the wrong place.

I still love that there was such a problem they had to state that throwing stars are banned!

We are staying on a campsite in the site boundary this year, last time I did this was at with Thomas Cook. We took a Motorhome, the security check took less than 30 seconds they didn’t open the fridge.
I have been told by our tour operator this year the ACO have cracked down and there is no alcohol allowed other than that purchased on site. Not even cans.
I cannot believe this is the case, I understand trying to walk through the entrances would be an issue but not a campsite

The camping cost a kings ransom, surely I take what I want in my vehicle?
Anyone got any recent experience?
