Just a heads-up for anyone heading to an early crossing on Thursday (and indeed all week) - looks like the M20 is closed between J9 and J10a (Ashford area) between 8pm and 6am.

Detour looks quite significant.

Rubbish.

Better to go via the M2 A2 and A260 then, I guess - the diversion signposts won’t show that of course but unless you’re towing, that could be a good alternate.

mmm, 6 hours on a boat or 35 mins on a train. wink

Seriously though its a pain for a few of our lot who normally stay in Folkestone on the weds night and are in Ashford instead this year. Ah well life is nothing without challenges.

Thanks for the heads up OP

Well they say so but I wouldn't rely on it if I were you.

It does clear at 6am, yes I live in Ashford...

You could go straight up to J9 come off there, turn left go up via Trinity Road, turn right onto the A2042, turn left at next set of lights towards Canterbury, turn right at the next roundabout onto the A2070 follow that up what effectively is J10 M20 and then go via the A20 or drop down the A2070 back to J10a...

It literally will be a 10 mile diversion...but for obvious reasons they don't want it via the town and villages. It makes little difference as enough of the trucks ignore the official one...

Be warned though guys Op Brock is on, keep in the middle lane from J8. Don't be tempted to boot in the 50 it is all average speed cameras, cheekily when you rejoin just before J9 there is another specs camera on J9 to catch the unwise ones as the national is not back until the bridge over J9 roundabout (when 9 - 10a is open).
