Best Viewing without grandstands
Discussion
Did anyone view the start and early hours from Arnage or Mulsanne ? If so how crowded was it ? It was rammed both sides from start finish down to Tertre Rouge both sides of the track. Seriously considering giving next year a miss after 29 years. Even the Stella bar was packed to the rafters.
Our small group has been doing Le Mans on and off since 1999 (more on than off). Have experience of staying on site camping and off site sharing a house about 20 minutes away from the circuit. Once did an organised stay off site with bus shuttle to/from the circuit during the race, but that didn’t work for us. We prefer to be at the circuit and enjoy the whole camping thing, although relatively civilised with a well known organiser inside the Porsche curves. This gives a base from which to do the other stuff the group enjoys. For the last 10 years we’d have said a grandstand was a must, with the last few years doing this is in conjunction with ACO member areas. However this year the grandstand wasn’t booked in favour of the ACO member areas, but looking forward we probably won’t do that again as the member areas were rammed (understandably) for the start and finish. So the long and short is …. Won’t bother with either a grandstand or member areas going forwards, but will use the camping provider facilities more at the Porsche curves, continue to take the bus to Arnage and Mulsanne.
Best areas to view without a grandstand …. Porsche Curves (on the bank), with the new area on the Porsche Curves exit, Tertre Rouge, Mulsanne corner and Arnage/Indianapolis…… other options are available
