Unfortunately I will not be going to Le Mans this year.
The reason being I have become a dad for the first time in December 2005 and the wee lad will only be 7 months old when Le Mans arrives.
However I have already promised to take him in a few years time (probably around 10).
Have fun without me Team Gibbon and see you all next year!

I will become a first time dad on or about the 17th march and have been given the green light to attend LM this year
So as to be seen to be being nice I am only going from the sat morning to sun night, will no doubt get very tired but its in a good cause

However I've got to question your sanity on doing Le Mans so quickly I'm afraid, you'll likely not be getting much sleep with a three month old in the house (you might be lucky, some babies can sleep through at that age, while others will wake on the hour...) so to get to Le Mans, watch the race and return home will leave you absolutely exhausted, so I certainly wouldn't recommend it for you to drive, but even if going as a passenger it may be worth you taking an extra night just to catch up on sleep, if you've had three months of 2-3 hours stretches of sleep you'll end up nodding off at the first oppurtunity.
I'm not saying not to go, but plan getting some kip in there somehow, especially if driving, unless you have shares in red Bull that is!
Also watch out, as it's been on father's day for two of the last four years too, so you may have that to contend with that again this year, so your seen as being nice plan could fail on that score.
On the plus side, I found that I got more sleep over in Le Mans than I ever could with the kids at home, so you'll be treating yourself to a weekend of relaxation
Then you'll get back home to all that noise and mayhem!Tripps said:

All very valid points that I hadn't taken into consideration. I work shifts so am very used to sleeping at odd times of the day and for short periods so hopefully that will be in my favour. On a more selfish note, I missed LM back in 2004 and was such a pain around the house in the run up to the race, and do not want to be in the same position this year, and I'm sure my wife couldn't stand two whinging people!
I guess only time will tell on how I cope, but will be travelling with a friend who I can get to drive if I feel too tired. And going by past visits to the race, I've never had any problems sleeping in the car, even in the heat of last year.knight said:

That's my birthday!
Well mine was in 1984 anyway.
Your kids going to find it a bitch to get a birthday drink on St. Paddy's day in years to come, I can tell you.
I'm going over on the Wednesday before, overnight boat out of Portsmouth to Caen or LeHarve (i'll check that), come back on the 11pm overnight boat on Sunday. Staying at one of the Callander Classic sites 'Upmarket camping' in the grounds of a french chateau with a shower block and toilet block and full english breakfast. Courtesy coaches available to and from the circuit throughout the race as well.
Very nice, very tasteful!
It'll be the first Le Mans outing for my S2 Elise as well! Gonna put some Viper stripes on it to get it looking the Le Mans part.
