The Gendarmes and how fast can you go?
Discussion
Been reading a lot recently on people receiving an instant ban when caught going 40kph over the limit. I know the Gendarme are going to be particularly hot on the Le Mans weekend, so how fast can you go?
From the horror stories I've read it seems like a couple of kph over could be a 'mare.
I'll be leaving my Road Angel at home, don't want that run over.

One of the evo guys got pulled at 40kph Over the limmit, instant ban and big fine. Basically if you dont want to get caught dont speed, if you like a bit of a risk go as fast as you like and hope you dont get caught.
I Think They are going ot be very hot on the new road between rouen and le mans.
Road angels and other such devices are a big nono.

My mate was pulled two years ago, he was not even speeding. However he did not have any of his papers with him, which was very stupid and very expensive. To be exact €750 = £520+/-.
Also my radar detector was confiscated, so all in all a painful experience.

Maybe there's a recent clampdown , as on previous Le mans trips , 90-100mph on the Autoroutes has caused me no problems.
I've so far only had a cop waving his arm at passing traffic for people to slow down a bit, which we did, it was better than a ticket!
What they were keen on though was any one caught overtaking on the solid white centre road lines . Fair enough on that rule I'd say

Remenber this. The French Polise can now trace English Plates to their owners.
Take a black marker pen and change it a bit.I.E 9 to a 8.3 to a 8.1 to a 7.
Get the idea.

No
As in change the number 9 to the number 8
Number 3 to the number 8 and
number 1 to a number 7
I thought it was 2008 as well, but I guess it can't hurt. Remember you're insurance documents etc will be different though.

I hate it when those pesky kids put black tape on your numberplate so it makes the letters look different!

Don’t be daft guys; most of the pulls are for on the spot fines for minor offences such as crossing solid white lines, burnouts or speeding via handheld speed traps rather than camera's. At that time they will stop you, ask you for your paper work and RECORD YOUR NUMBER PLATE - any attempts to change your registration with tape or marker pens will be obvious, and at that time they will loose their sense of humour and probably lock you up (or fine you extra very very heavily). DONT DO IT

French speeding policy (in evo this month)
20kph over limit – 45euro, 1 point
20 – 30kph over limit – 90euro fine, 2 points
30 – 40kph over limit – 90euro fine, 3 points
40 – 50kph over limit – 90euro fine, 4 points and immediate confiscation of license
50kph+ over limit – 750euro fine, 6 points and immediate confiscation of license for minimum of 1 month
(points for Frenchies only…at the moment anyway!!!)
Now bearing in mind that 40kph is only 25mph that is a bit of a worry! I guess it will be down to officer discretion how hot they are on it but some will surely be out for easy pickings en route to Lemans….

Taking a copy of your licence is even worse. More likely to be left walking if that is presented. Whether they take your licence or not, if they issue a ban then you are still banned. Although I do wonder how they will check this up if you were stopped again say in the same day or even the next 2-3. I wonder how fast or good their computers would be updated.

Maybe it depends on if they're in a good mood or not! Over the last few years, Passed a few roadside cops while doing around 90-100mph on Autoroutes with no problem at all.
