Is this a total pig to get to? I would really like to see the parade but should I try to drive there, get a bus or walk?

My advice is get there early, as they shut the roads from 3 p.m. onwards. Driving there is the best option then park on the opposite side of the river and walk the last bit.
The parade starts from here outside the cathedral.

It is indeed an absolute pig to get to, the busses are very crowded (think Northern Line rush hour) and when you get there the parade is badly organised. Well teh one I bothered to fight my way to was in 2004! One car about every 10 mins... totally boring. Ta

Boring???? 2004 was a great vintage, not least because a group of us were part of the parade that year, I was in Lake's purple Cerb and we were warned many times about leaving large rubber strips on the roads
Strangely the crowd enjoyed the antics though...

OK for the drivers I imagine but where I was stood we got a car or a motorbike evry 10 mins or so interspersed with some strange french brass bands! Gave up after an hour and half and went back to our hotel to drink!
I've not been for a few years now as a spectator (this year will be the first since 2003) but it always went like a blur for me - mind you I was well lubricated
